Kitchen Mixer Help

My old mixer bit the dust and started smoking, so my husband and I went searching for a new one. We looked at every brand and model in the store, read each box and chose the Black and Decker Power Pro Spatula Mixer MX50. I’ve had this for over a year and it has never failed to impress me. I like that it is powerful and does a great job. It works quickly and mixes all ingredients efficiently and well. With past mixers I have had lumpy results, this one has never left any ingredients not completely combined. My husband compares the power of the mixer to his power drill. My only complaints are that the spatula attachment annoyed me and just got in my way and that if you are not careful this mixed can get splatters all over the place because it is so powerful.

I recently found a used one at a thrift store for $15.00 with two glass bowls. WOW what a deal !! I never had a stand mixer before, but I’ve been baking lots of things since I got it. It does a wonderful job of mixing things very well. I’ve used it for cake mixes, banana bread mixes, pizza dough, Toll House cookie mixes, custard pies, omelets and it makes excellent whipped potatoes. It takes out all the lumps !! It’s very easy to use and cleans up fast. I usually mix all my dry ingredients together first, then mix my liquids separately, then mix them both together, and I get perfect bread loaves, doughs, ect. I wish I would have bought one years ago. I didn’t need an expensive heavy duty mixer, so this one worked out great for me for normal household use. It has a 12 speed switch that acts a variable speed control, so you can mix things to your liking. It’s very easy to use and control while mixing. The mixer can be removed or angled up, out of your way, while you add ingredients. I found that feature very helpful. The beaters are stainless steel, and clean up easily.

I seriously think it would survive a nuclear blast or in my case…small boys. This mixer has been washed (yes submerged, but who ever thought they would try to clean up) and dropped (many many times and even while turned on), and even had the well marked beaters forced into the wrong holes but is still going after 7 years of hard abuse.

I love this mixer! I keep it on my counter everyday, and red color matches my kitchen perfectly! They have a few colors, so anyone can really get one.It can blend, whip, and make perfect cake mixes! I very often make desserts in it that come absolutely perfect. The bowl takes me 30 seconds to clean, and the detatchable mixers are just as easy. Even a 6 year old can help me cook on it.(And often does!) Even big chefs like Emeril, and famous people like Martha Stewart use it when they cook. (On their cooking shows) I would recomend it to anone who enjoys cooking often. The only bad thing is that it does takeup counter space, and does have to be placed near an outlet. But other than that this is truly a great machine that anyone can benefit from.

I love to cook, especially baking. The other day my husband suggested that instead of fighting with a hand mixer all the time, to just go and buy a stand mixer. Sounds easy, right? WRONG! There were so many to choose from, I had no idea what I wanted. I called the one person I know wouldn’t let me down…my mother! She told me KitchenAid was the way to go. So, like any good daughter would do, I listened and bought the artisan 5 quart in red to match my kitchen! I got it home and read the easy to follow instructions and away I went to experiment. What a joy this is to work with! From the first batch of cookies to even last night’s cake baking, this machine has been a god send! I bake cakes and let me tell you, without this machine I would have been going nuts making quadruple batches of buttercream frosting. This little puppy is no worries. I love the fact that my hands are free to do other things while it is mixing. What did I do without this thing before now? Why did I wait so long to get one? I have been asking myself these questions since I started using the KitchenAid. The directions are super easy to follow. The booklet they give you is very well put together and troubleshooting is not a problem when you have that thing around. The only problem I have with this is that it is so darn heavy. I do not have counter space to keep it in the kitchen, so everytime I want to use it, which by now is almost daily, I have to lug it out. Even the husband said it was a lot heavier than he expected. I have done so much baking with this stand mixer that I can’t wait to buy the attachments for it and try it all out. The quality is great and the price seems to fit the quality. Not much to hate with this unit. If you are an avid baker, this tool is a necessity in your kitchen.
