Feels & looks good; works well - Cuisinart 220 Watts HTM-7L SmartPower Hand Mixer

My last mixer gave out, so I checked this site and after much consideration, decided to get the Cuisinart 7 speed as those who reviewed it were inordinately pleased. I am too. The accompanying instructions are simple and include recipes. For me the fact that the cord is attached to the mixer is a plus as my last one (almost as old as I am) wasn’t, and each time I set out to use the appliance, I’d have to make my way through a variety of cords to find the right one.

Love my KitchenAid mixer!! - KitchenAid 450 Watts KV25GOXMC (Metallic Chrome) Stand Mixer

After burning up umpteen hand mixers, I finally decided the time was right to take the plunge and purchase a quality stand mixer. Because I do cake decorating, and baking for a family of 7, I need a high quality, sturdy mixer. My KitchenAid has never disappointed me.

I have used the mixer to make buttercream frostings, bread dough, cookie dough, meringues, homemade marshmallows, you name it….and have never had a bit of trouble. The only drawback (next to the investment required to purchase on) is that many of the accessories are extra, and are pricey. My hope is to expand my KitchenAid this year and add some of the attachments, and an additional bowl.

UPDATE - mixer fixed - happier consumer - KitchenAid 300 Watts KSM90 Ultra Power Series Stand Mixer

I tend to agree with most of the reviewers here that the KSM90 is very powerful. Mine came with one great-sized bowl, a dough hood and a regular beater. I added a balloon whisk and grinder.

But it has some significant flaws that people overlook for some reason. You MUST stop and scrape down the sides of the bowl in virtually every recipe, and it is extremely difficult to add ingredients once you’ve put in the beater and started mixing — there’s simply no room for it. And I don’t know how a small woman would ever be able to move this thing around, as it is extremely heavy and awkward.

My best kitchen investment!!! - KitchenAid 300 Watts KSM90 Ultra Power Series Stand Mixer

I bought my mixer in 1998. I am a currently a culinary student and use it all the time to practice recipes. This mixer has never let me down. I make wedding cakes and can mix three cake mixes at a time. I made Christmas candy in this mixer that no other mixer could mix(they always burned out) The only problem I have ever had is when I use the whip attachment the mixer makes a small clicking sound. This happens because the wires on the whip are not welded at the bottom so they click against each other. This is my ONLY complaint and never effects how the mixer runs or mixes it is just a superficial thing.

I would buy another brand if I were you. - KitchenAid 300 Watts KSM90 Ultra Power Series Stand Mixer

I received this as a gift from my husband because right before the holidays my Sunbeam Mix Master from the 1960’s went out. I was so excited to start using this new mixer, but found that I stayed mostly frustrated at the messes and how inconvenient it is to use.

My first experience with it was a disaster….the cookie recipe called for butter and sugar to be creamed…not knowing how powerful this mixer was, I started it out on the lowest speed….all seemed fine and I turned around to put something in the kitchen sink and as I turned back…..there was on the floor - 2 sticks of butter!

We justified this by looking in the manual to see that we could purchase a shield…….for another 25 approx. dollars….I continued using this mixer thru out the holiday cooking and I will say that it does mix up everything quite well, but you can’t scrap the sides or add anything without lifting the beaters from the mix and then you still don’t have much room to add like 2 cups of flour, without a lot of it ending up on the counter.

I am use to being able to scrap the sides of the bowl and add ingredients slowly to my recipes, but this is nearly impossible with this mixer…..

It is excellent on bread doughs. I firmly believe that the shield should have came with the product, although it would be just as aggravating to remove a shield to scrap the sides if needed….and I found that most everything needs to be scraped during mixing.

I will be returning this mixer and going back to one that has the capability to scrap the sides and add ingredients without all the messes and frustrations.

I give it a good rating for power, mixing, and attractive style.
