This is actually my 2nd time with this mixer. The first one the drive failed. I bought from CostCo and they refunded in cash, a year later, after they no longer carried it.
But everyone I met on the mixer-owners group said this was one of the 2 best. DLX being the other.
Perhaps I didn’t learn enough the first time, or it was a lemon. The 1st one I bought with the SS bowl version with the “euro” dough hook and beaters. The beaters were beaten up making cc cookie dough. The hook was weak for bread.
This one I bought with the space age plastic bowl, SS “American” bread hook and plastic cookie paddles. I had to send the blender back to the dealer as I couldn’t get the blades off for cleaning, not a problem I had with the 1st one.
The bowl or blender locks in place to the base fairly easily with a small counter clockwise turn.
I’ve just made my 1st double batch of WW bread and single batch of CC cookies. I’m much happier. The breads turned out great, just like they did with my Zojorushi. Next I’ll try a ciabatta.
The CC cookies were a snap, especially considering I’m using my own version of the “toll house” type recipe.
The blender kicks butt. I make yogurt smoothies now and then, with frozen fruit and nuts. Takes about a minute to liquify whatever.
Easy to clean with just hot water and a scrunge or the like.
The base is very low, like 3″ and perhaps 10″ square. All the parts I have, except the blender, store in the bowl.
Thus far I’m quite happy with it.
The lubricated center drive post makes me a bit nervous about the longevity, but I’ve been told otherwise.
A couple of minor complaints. The power cord wraps around a plastic island on the rear panel. It’s clumsy and doesn’t hold very well. You must also sort of balance the mixer on it’s slanted front end to do this.
It’s a little on the loud side with a double batch of ww bread dough, but not painful. It will also try to “duck walk” a bit for the first few minutes of handling a load of that size. Fortunately, there are suction cups on the base that minimizes the walk. I still keep an eye on it for the first 5 minutes.
I wish they made a small blender, like a low 8 oz jar type. Good for salad dressing, salsa, etc.
