I have used two K45SS mixers, a KSM5, two different Sunbeams, and several others that I couldn”t name. The K45SS models are slightly shorter and thus have the advantage if your counter to cabinet distance is on the short side. On the down side, you will have to bring it out from under the cabinets in order to lift the mixing head.

Of course, the biggest advantage of the K45SS over other brands is the raw power. The motors have never slowed or strained under any load and I make several batches of bread almost every week.

There are a multitude of attachments available for specific tasks but I have only used the Model FGA grinder. This fits on the "power take off" at the front of the machine. Once again, there is never a question of power and the Kitchen Aid makes short work of grinding ham for spreads, and even handles raw venison.

You can also get just the speed you need. The speed selector is numbered and has detents but you can move the lever in between to tune in exactly what you need. This virtually eliminates splashes and helps keep the kitchen clean.

The K45SS is a consistent performer and "beats" the other brands of mixers That I have tried hands down.
