I have always wanted a Kitchen Aid mixer. I have had other mixers, a Hamilton Beach which had a dough hook but did not seem to really work well with the dough hook and a Sunbeam which actually worked quite well. The sunbeam was of the shorter design which fit well under my low cabinets. But, I still really wanted a Kitchen Aid.

Finally after many years it was on sale at Linens and Things and I had a 20% off coupon. I was able to pick up the mixer for $159.99. I had never seen it priced lower.

The mixer is great. I love the fact that the beater moves around instead of the bowl. With my other mixers I always had to watch and constantly stir because the bowl would go around and around and around. I could not walk away even for a second because I did not trust it.

The mixer comes with a flat beater for normal mixing, a wire whip for whipping and a dough hook for bread or stiff doughs. The beaters are very easy to attach and remove. The best feature is the handle on the stainless steel bowl. It makes is so easy to pour batter from the bowl to baking pan. If you buy the Classic model the bowl does not come with a handle but you can purchase one separately. The bowl is tricky to put on and remove at first but the more you use it the easier it becomes.

The mixer also has an attachment hub socket were you can attach numerous accessories. Food Grinder, fruit/vegetable strainer, food tray, sausage stuffer, slicer/shredder, grain mill, can opener, citrus juicer and even a pasta maker. There is also a pouring shield available which minimizes splash-out when adding ingredients.

If you cannot find the attachments at your local store you can order them from Kitchen Aid. I did this with the pasta maker (which I have not yet used) and a very nice quilted cover. Kitchen Aid was very prompt it getting my order out to me. I think I received it in about 5-7 days.

I did have to find a place to put my mixer because my wall cabinets hang lower than most. I bought a cart with a drawer and storage cabinet underneath it. My Kitchen Aid sits on top with all the accessories in the drawer and cabinet below. Also now my mixer is located were I will use it more because I do not have to pull it out of a cabinet.

A Kitchen Aid mixer is a great investment. I have learned that any job is easier if you have the right tool. For mixing and beating and all the things you can do with the accessories I feel the Kitchen Aid mixer is the right tool for the job.
