This mixer is so nicely thought out and designed, that I cannot think of one thing the engineers at Bosch could have done to improved it. It would be fair to say they created the iPod of mixers, only twenty years ago. Have had ours for close to twenty years so it has made mountains of mashed potatoes, acres of cookies, swimming pools of sauce and it has been just perfect. Selected it at the time because the salesperson at Macy’s said it had more power for the price than any other model they carried. Not certain if that is (or was) true, but it has worked perfectly since day one. The four speeds are beautifully spaced. Speed 1 allows for a very gentle mix (adding blueberries into pancake mix) while speed 4 goes so fast that it will honestly make you laugh out loud. Years ago I read that a secret to super light pancakes is to separate the egg whites from the yolks and whip them into a meringue before folding them back into the batter mix. This mixer can get the job done in what seems like a minute. Fabulous! The bowl cover has an opening so you can add ingredients into the mix, with out having to lift the cover. In addition they designed the unit so that when the mixer arm snaps into the mixing position, it locks the bowl and cover all together so that you can actually lift the entire unit up, by the bowl. Therefore you never have to worry about mess or spills because it slipped off or came apart. They even designed the bowl with a convex bottom (center bulges slightly up), so the ingredients are channeled into path of the beaters, dough hook etc.

Our unit came with the blender attachment so that added the convince of two appliances in one unit. And again, here is where the power really pays off. I was told that the motor and blades were designed so that they would not get bogged down and that has been our experience. Milk shakes are a piece of cake and you can literally fill the blender with ice, add a little liquid and it will grind up the perfect pitcher of daiquiris or Margaritas, every time.

The only “problem” we ever had was the bowl cover was cracked when it was accidentally dropped on the floor and stepped on. Sent away for a replacement and that was that.

Therefore whatever you consider the highest recommendation an appliance could have, give it that.
