A few years ago, I was the manager of a retail sales and service center. Kitchen Aid was one of the brands that we sold and serviced. It was then that I fell in love with the Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer.

Being a service center for small appliances, I got first-hand knowledge on the worst products because they were the ones that I saw the most often. I rarely saw a Kitchen Aid Mixer come in to our store and never for repair. When a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer came in our service center, it was brought in by a chef, home chef or someone who knew the value of investing in something durable that would last, and they brought it in to get it serviced. They simply loved it and wanted it to work at its optimal level.

If you have a chance, go to a store and touch a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer. It’s heavy. I don’t recommend that you ever open the frame casing, but if you did open it, you would see a solid steel gear mechanism with plenty of lubrication. This is a stand mixer that is meant to be used and that can endure the heavy mixing of bread dough and heavy mixes.

It is also more versatile than you may realize. Not only does it have a regular mixing attachment, but you can purchase other attachments for the mixer (some come with different attachments as part of the standard package, so check around for specials!) such as a dough hook, and whisk. Specialty attachments are also available such as a roto-slicer/chopper and sausage extruder. There are more attachments than that, so if you are looking for a durable, well made product designed to do the hard work so you can enjoy the process in the kitchen without spending all day doing it, the Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer is for you.

If you want a lower-end mixer, more for beating eggs and lighter batters, then you can get away with a less expensive plastic model, but be aware that the motor will burn out if overused or overexerted.

Not seeing the Kitchen Aid come in to the service center often won me over. Seeing the motor and durability impressed me. Using it in my own kitchen has saved me time and effort. I highly recommend the Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer.
