Recently I finally broke down and said I had to have a stand mixer. I love my hand mixer, but for larger batches of things it can really wear my arm out. I went to a local kitchen store and happened to find the Jenn-Air mixers on clearance. I had never seen them before and thought they were very elegant and not your normal kitchen aid mixer which is what I had planned to purchase. After talking to a sales associate and her telling me what she loved about her mixer I was sold and headed up to the checkout with the heaviest small appliance I have ever owned.

-Product Information-

This mixer comes in a variety of base and bowl combinations. The mixer I purchased has a stainless steel base and clear bowl with white etching. It has a 4.5 quart glass mixing bowl. The bowl has handles on both sides for easy picking up and a pour spout for easy pouring of ingredients. Unlike most mixer bowls this one is narrow at the bottom and gets larger as it goes up. The bowl as well as the attachments are dishwasher safe. The attachments you receive are a flat beater, wire whip, and dough hook. I love that you change the speed setting by turning the wheel on the top of the mixer and the mixer slowly adjusts the speed to where you are wanting it so that there is no splattering. There are ten speeds on the mixer which makes it nice when there are thicker batters such as cookie dough and bread dough.

This mixer also has a safety function so that the mixer will not run if the head is tilted up. The head lifts easily to change attachments and remove the bowl. This mixer also has a pause mode for all of the different speeds for if something needs to be added. You know that you are going to get a long life out of the 400 watt motor and the detachable power cord helps keep my plug ins free when this is not in use.

-My Experience-

I have used the wire whip for egg whites, whipping cream, and making mayo. The flat beater I have used for cookie, cake and brownie batters. The dough hook I have only used a couple of times so far. I have not had any problems with this mixer in the month and a half I have had it. My only complaint would have to be how heavy it is at around forty pounds. I do not know the exact weight, but I do know that it is very heavy. It has cut through all of the mixes, batters, and tasks that I have put it through with flying colors. This has been used on almost a daily basis since the first of December and probably will be until almost Christmas. I have managed to get twice as many Christmas cookies and different fudges done for this time of year as I had by this time last year with just my hand mixer.

-Final Thoughts-

I do believe that the whole Jenn-Air line has been discontinued, but I have seen them on ebay since purchasing mine as well as on overstock.com. I give this a five star rating not only for how well it works,but how beautiful it is. I never thought that I would have a stand mixer that not only worked beautifully, but could be considered a piece of art in my kitchen as well.
