The KitchenAid Ultra Power Stand Mixer has become one of the most used appliances in my home. With the additional attachments, I have made fresh orange juice, canned spaghetti sauce, shredded ingredients for salads, made homemade pizza crust, and mixed tons of cookie and cake batter! I never cooked as much before I had the KitchenAid mixer.

This mixer is part of The KitchenAid Countertop Collection. The other appliances include food processors, blenders, hand mixers, & toasters. I only have the mixer, but I will be purchasing the food processor soon!

After using my mixer, my mother, aunt, & grandmother all went out and purchased the same model as mine. Since they all have bought different attachments, I haven’t had to purchase any attachments. I’ve just borrowed theirs. This is fine if your family lives close like mine, but can be expensive if you have to purchase them all on your own.

~ Basics ~

The mixer is actually quite compact. It simply fits in a cupboard on on top of the fridge without taking up much space. Also, if you don’t have much counter space, it doesn’t take up much room there either. The height is 13.9″; Width is 8.7″; and Depth is 14.1″.

The only drawback to this mixer is the 26.0 lbs of weight! This may not sound like a lot of weight, but it is for a mixer. If you don’t want to leave the mixer out all the time, the weight makes this mixer very difficult to put into a cupboard, on top of your fridge, or even in the basement.

Cleaning is very simple as long as you don’t have to lift it! All you have to do is just wipe with a hot, soapy dish cloth and dry it off. Doesn’t get much simpler than that!

Another nice feature is the cord length. It is a little over 4′. They could enhance this feature by adding a retractable cord. There is no where to put the cord for storing purposes. You have to wrap it up around the mixer itself. The inside of the base is hollow, so the cord could be retracted into there, out of the way. You would only have to pull out as much cord as you need, the rest would stay tucked away in the base. I have already emailed the company and suggested this feature.

~ Features ~

— 300 Watt motor

— Tilt-up head - This is a must for removing the bowl from the base. There is a lever on the side that locks or releases the tilt feature. I like the lock feature for safety reasons as well as handling purposes.

— 10-speed control - On the side of the mixer there is a lever that slides from 0 - 10. O is the slowest, 10 is the fastest.

— 4-1/2 quart stainless steel bowl - Nice size bowl that locks into the base of the mixer. Some bowls have handles, some don’t. If the bowl that comes with your mixer doesn’t have a handle, you can purchase one that does. They also make 5 quart bowls.

— Includes flat beater, dough hook and wire whip - The flat beater is great for cookies and cake mixes. The dough hook is for mixing pie crust, pizza crust or bread. The wire whip is best used for liquids or thin mixtures, such as eggs, milk, whip cream, ect.

— Power hub for additional attachments - This is where you can attach a Food Grinder, Strainer, Shredder, Pasta Maker, & Can Opener. They can be attached by unscrewing a knob and removing a small round plate. The attachments then fit into the hub and are secured with the same knob.

These accessories are sold in stores, online, or through an order form provided in the box. Other accessories include a Pouring Shield, Extra Bowls, & Bowl Covers. Accessories range from $9.95 - $176.95. Most of these attachments seem expensive to me, but they do last. If you plan on using the attachments often, it would be well worth your money to purchase them.

I chose the white, but I wish I would have gotten cream. The white shows every speck of dust. If you want to keep your mixer clean, they do offer a cover for the mixer for $26.95. I’ve only seen this available online or from the order form.

~ Kitchen Aid offers a Total Replacement Warranty ~

During the 1st year, if your mixer fails for ANY reason, KitchenAid will replace it FREE OF CHARGE. They claim to deliver the replacement right to your front door, pay for the return of the defected mixer, and offer a new one year warranty on the replacement.

~ Overall Opinion ~

If I were to go and purchase a mixer after using the KitchenAid, I would still purchase the same model, just a different color. There hasn’t been a job this mixer couldn’t handle!

The only drawback is the weight. Anyone who has arthritis may have problems moving this mixer around. Other than that, this mixer is very simple to use and I highly recommend it!
