To date I have not purchased a replacement, but I use this machine at work. And it has not failed me yet.

We actually have a dozen units here and we use them for mixing samples (dirt, clay, sludge, and so on).

The ease of use and durability of the Kitchen Aid Classic Series K45SS Stand Mixer has truly impressed me. The bowls are stainless steel and fit nicely into the holder.

The 250 watt motor has not failed to date, but I have managed to strip the internal gears while mixing some bedrock. The motor is controlled by a ten speed solid state controller.

The tilt up head allows rapid replacement of attachments and bowl removal.

This kit is currently in most WalMarts for 174.00 dollars. It includes a 4-1/2 quart stainless steel bowl,

flat beater, dough hook and wire whip.

There is a power hub for additional attachments (which can be costly and hard to obtain locally).

The bowls are large enough for kneading two loaves of bread, or mixing eight cups of concrete.

The unit has an iron clad 1 Year total replacement warranty. To date we have had no problem with this policy, and only have had to return units with fried gearing (due to the clay).

All in all, an excellent versatile mixer for any kitchen. This is because of its durability, design and ease of use.
