This Sunbeam hand mixer is truly a better buy than those expensive, Kitchen Aid or cuisinart hand mixers because those other hand mixers have the exact same power, if not less than this one though your only paying for the name. am a college student, and I bought this mixer as well, I recieved the exact same mixer and use it about once or twice a month. It is the rival to the Black and Decker line. It features 200 watt motor, 6 speeds (though you’ll never have to exceed #4)and study beaters. Unfortunately, the 2485 model does NOT have the Burst of Power feature.
This mixer is very good at not overheating. It has an ergonomic handle which is more comfortable than other mixers. I mainly use this unit to make mashed potatoes 2x a month. I seldom ever bake, though I’ve had fun using it for cookie dough. It handled pretty well, but I found that it can sometimes strain if it becomes overwhelmed with cookie dough. I would NEVER recommend using it to make bread dough. It does not have the appropriate attachments to do bread. Ejecting the beaters is a no nonsense, no mess breeze.
There are other versions of the Sunbeam mixer 2484 that you can buy such as, the 2486. That model comes with more attachments plus it features the burst of power button on it and that one can mix bread dough as it has the dough hooks. I think that this mixer works even more smoothly than those stand mixers by Sunbeam, and other competitors.
This hand mixer by Sunbeam is really attractive as well as unique in design. The attachments are chrome PLATED only so they will rust easily. That’s the biggest downside. Hear in Toronto where I live, it is reasonably priced between $21.99 - $26.99 cnd. I honestly have zero complaints. I have two of this model and I’ve always trusted the Sunbeam name. For more information on their mixers and other products, go to www.sunbeam.com and you can even buy directly from their website, however there is a charge for shipping.
I hope that my review has given you sufficient information for when you buy a Sunbeam hand mixer.
