A great buy, easy to use, gets the job done, and is darn cute! - Sunbeam 450 Watts Heritage 2346 / 2347 / 2348 / 2349 Stand Mixer I bought the Sunbeam 450 watt Heritage mixer recently and have been very pleased with it. I previously owned a Ha...
I learned to cook on a true vintage Sunbeam Mix Master - my mother’s model from the 1950’s. I grew up with it and when I got my first job in the early 1970’s I bought my own stainless Mix Master. It was my first purchase for my “hope chest”.
That Mix Master took me through three children and 30+ years of celebrations, funerals, birthdays, Easter, Christmas and Thanksgivings. Two years ago a friend gave me a Kitchen Aid mixer as a gift, telling me how superior it was to the Sunbeam. Yeah, right . . .
I had the Kitchen Aid one year before I threw it to the curb! Oh, it still worked but it was a poor substitute for a Mix Master and I just couldn’t stand it anymore! My husband got me the heritage model last year for Christmas and I love it almost as much as my 1970’s version!
Difference between Sunbeam and Kitchen Aid: Sunbeam has room between the motor and the bowl to allow for addition of liquids, flour, etc. while the motor is running and the bowl is turning. Kitchen Aid doesn’t have any space in that area and I kept getting milk and flour all over the motor while trying to add it to the mixing bowl.
Sunbeam has heavy duty motor and can handle double batches of my oatmeal/raisin/chocolate chip cookies, something the Kitchen Aid was groaning under.
You can shift the bowl stand to accommodate the smaller bowl. This feature also comes in handy when using the large bowl as it allow you to really mix in any ingredients that may have swirled to the middle.
I love the rotating bowl. I could rotate my 70’s model backwards with my hand to better incorporate ingredients which is something I can’t do with my newer model as the bowl locks into the stand - about my only disappointment in the newer model.
