My husband bought me the Bamix immersion blender about 1 1/2 years ago. I just love this handy little tool. I like to make smoothies, whip skim milk for low fat treats and make my own dressings and vinaigrettes. That is just some of the uses this blender. It is one of my mainstays of kitchen utensils. We like to go south in the winter for several months and this goes with us as it’s so versatile; mashing potatoes, chopping vegetables, making low fat cream style soups, whipping and a number of other uses only limited by your imagination. It’s very well built and has some good oomph behind it. Mine has 2 speeds and both are very useful. You can tell by ‘touch’ which speed to use. The Bamix comes with an instruction manual/recipe book. The homemade mayonnaise recipe is terrific and I never have to worry about running out of it just when I need some for sandwiches, dips etc. The attachments easily pop on and off as needed. I would highly recommend this product. It may be pricier than others such as the Thunderstick but I know I will have this for years and it will last. The extra money is well worth the value received.

I had been researching for a stick blender for some time, when I saw Alton Brown use one on Good Eats on the Food Network, he highly recommended it, but never mentioned it by name. The Bamix DeLuxe Hand blender has a fairly distinctive design, so I researched on line until I found the Bamix. After reading descriptions and reviews, I decided that it was the blender for me. But beware, it’s blades don’t look anything like the ones you will see on the other brands of stick blenders out there, they look kind of puny, but they really work and the motor or the Bamix De Luxe is a powerhouse that does not poop out after a minute or two.

My main reason for wanting a stick blender is because I make a protein smoothie with ice almost every day ( and was looking for something easier to clean up after than my Braun stand blender). Most of the immersion blenders I looked into were not recommended for crushing ice - Bamix said no problem. Well, I looked all over my area (Virginia Beach) and could not find one, and was about to order it on line, when I happened to find one in a gourmet store in Chapel Hill, NC.
