A great offering from the best name in mixers - KitchenAid 325 Watts Artisan KSM150PS Stand Mixer

I chose to buy a KitchenAid because of the name reputation. I specifically chose the Artisan 5-quart because it is the largest KitchenAid stand mixer that still has a tilt-back head, which was something I wanted. The price wasn’t that much higher than the smaller KitchenAids, and I wanted the biggest motor I could get, after reading some reviews of the smaller ones that mentioned overheating.

MUCH BETTER THAN MY PREVIOUS MIXERS:

Don’t waste your time - Black & Decker 200 Watts MX85 PowerPro® Hand Mixer

After reading an earlier review, and in need of an inexpensive mixer, I bought this as my first Black & Decker mixer. I used it for 6 months, and it was good to me. While I missed the lower speeds my Sunbeam upright had, for the money, this baby did the job, until I used it on butter that was too hard. The beaters locked, and stripped out the housing that holds them. I should have known better. It had spoiled me, and I forgot that it was still a relatively light weight mixer. So after being so delighted with my first one, I went back for another.

Braun MultiMix: not quite a stand mixer but a very decent hand mixer - Braun 280 Watts M880 Hand Mixer

I wasn’t yet ready to plop down the $250 or so dollars for the stand mixer I wanted but I was ready for a hand mixer a tad bit more substantial than my $6 Sunbeam hand mixer that I’d got from Rite Aid a few years back. My choice was the Braun 4-in-1 MultiMix Hand Mixer (M880).

Product Details

Most hand mixers employ a horizontal motor design. The Braun MultiMix uses a vertical power system, with the motor directly over the attachments to deliver optimal power. It features 3 speeds and a power pulse. In addition it has a hefty 280 watt DC motor with overheat protection. The other hand mixers I saw in the store had 200-220 watt motors.

Good for the amateur - Sunbeam 450 Watts Heritage 2346 / 2347 / 2348 / 2349 Stand Mixer

This is a great beginner’s stand mixer because it has all basic settings and Sunbeam is a trusted name in the world of cooking and baking. I got this after graduating from college to start a baking career but I decided to upgrade this year because it lacked features that I desired. I love the fact that it is simple to use and easy to move around but I could use more settings and attachment options offered by its competitors. I would recommend this to anyone looking to start baking but not if you are going to invest a lot of time into it and not if you are a professional. It is also more affordable than some of the other stand mixers. It is fairly loud and there are some difficulties in manipulating the tilt feature. It does have the dual beaters and two motors that make it more powerful than a standard hand mixer. Overall, this is a temporary mixer but a good temporary mixer. It has more power than the 300 WATT Sunbeam Stand Mixer and it resembles the older Sunbeam Stand mixer seen in the 1960s. It makes for a good gift to a college graduate or novice baker.

Sunbeam Mixer Is Reliable - Sunbeam 100 Watts 2487 Hand Mixer

I have owned this Sunbeam hand mixer for quite a few years, and I was surprised to see that nobody had written a review on it yet. Let me be the first to do so, because this is a very nice hand mixer. I don’t even know if Sunbeam makes this model any longer, because it’s not on their website - although it is available at Shopping.com.

If you shop like me, you buy products at garage sales and on eBay - so I am going to write this review in case you run across this model, you’ll know if it is worth buying.

This is the one–if your serious about baking! - KitchenAid 325 Watts Artisan KSM150PS Stand Mixer

This KitchenAid Heavy Duty K5SS mixer was a gift from my mom, who knew I was getting serious into a cake business from home. I have used it about 40 times since I got it in December of 2000. Before the KitchenAid I was mixing double-batches of cake from scratch using a hand-held Sunbeam mixer—ouch!

They don’t build them like they used to–classic or no classic - Sunbeam 275 Watts 2386 MixMaster Series Stand Mixer

I was delighted to find the Classic, but its appearance– clean chrome and stylish shape– is its only advantage. I did not ask it to do too much: cookies, egg whites, cakes, but somehow the cookies bent the mixer blades almost every time, and I was developing a first name basis with my supply dealer. Cookie dough should not break or distort beater blades and yet it was happening almost every time I tried using my Sunbeam I’m replacing it, and wish that I’d spent more money to buy a better product. My values next time will be to find an attractive machine that will do the job. Next time it won’t be a Sunbeam.
