My family scrimped and saved to afford a mixer for me for Mother’s Day several years ago. We bought the Dimension 2000 because it was less expensive than the Bosch. Big mistake.

The first problem we had was that the dough hook SHATTERED. I don’t mean “snapped”, I mean “shattered”. The dough went in the trash…which my dog subsequently found and ate…and you can imagine what her stomach looked like with that dough rising in it…and that cost me $1000 emergency vet visit. Ouch. (She was ok and lived several more years =))

The blender was just terrible and never worked so I got ready to package it all up and return it to the manufacturer…and then my daughter turned a burner on right next to the mixer and melted the base. *sigh* I really wanted to smack my head against the wall at this point, knowing the manufacturer would not accept the return, claiming abuse of the product. Grrrr.

So for several years we’ve muddled along doing the best we can with the dough hook coming apart.

I didn’t use the blender for YEARS as it was pathetic. However, just recently we have started making low fat chocolate milk shakes that are yummy. This includes putting ice cubes in the blender…which any self-respecting blender should be able handle, right?

The first problem with this is that the blades kept coming unscrewed and dumping the blender ingredients out all over the counter. Lovely.

Then just yesterday the blades CAME APART. I mean, it came off! The top blade was whirling around inside the blender. I mean…extremely sharp metal whirling free. Unbelievable.

So I go online to find the manufacturer to talk to them again about this piece of junk they’ve sold me as I remember they PROMISED to send a new product or refund my money if I had problems with it. And lo and behold, they are nowhere to be found. Why am I not surprised?

All this hassle when we could have bought a quality product in the first place and (hopefully) not had any problems at all.

Do not buy a new one if offered - there is no manufacturer support. Do not buy a used one under any circumstances - they are a very dangerous product.
