KENMORE 10 Speed Hand Mixer

I recently purchased a Kenmore 10 Speed Hand Mixer at a brick and mortar Sears store in Thousand Oaks, California.

It was a much needed kitchen tool. I am a one year newlywed and was simply tired of using a big spoon to mix cakes and other baked goodies. Yes, it is true you can actually mix batters with a spoon and a whole lot of elbow grease. However, it takes much longer to produce a smooth batter and can really tucker you out in a short time.

I chose the Kenmore 10 Speed Hand Mixer because I usually have positive experiences with Kenmore products.

What”s in the Box?

1. Hand Mixer Unit with an attached power supply cord.

2. A pair of beaters

3. A pair of dough hooks

4. An instruction book with English and Spanish dialogue.

The Mixer

The Kenmore 10 Speed Hand Mixer”s body is white and the unit is light weight.

I feel that a light weight hand mixer is the best choice if plan to use the unit often.

The mixer also contains a set of beaters and a set of dough hooks. They are chrome plated steel and very have duty. These are easily loaded into the unit by inserting the end of the neck and giving it a little twist. Removing the hooks is done by a simply pushing the eject button.

I am really enjoying the option of having 10 speeds. Located on top of the mixer are 4 buttons, the eject button, the high/low switch, the speed control lever, and the TURBO BUTTON. The instruction book gives many details on using the speed setting. For example if you are making mash potatoes, put the speed lever on 3 and then press the high switch. If you want to turbo blast those potatoes, then press the turbo button. Those potatoes will be mashed in 2 minutes flat. ( The instructions tell the user to only use the turbo button for 2 minutes at a time.) The turbo button allows you to fully access the 200 watts of power in this mixer. Overall, I think the turbo button is a cool feature, it puts the power of turbo into the cook”s hands.

Cleaning The Mixer

After use, you simply unplug the mixer and remove the hooks. The hooks are dishwasher safe, just rinse them off and place them upright in the utensil rack of the washer. The unit can be cleaned with a hot soapy rag, just wipe it off, rinse out your rag, wipe off the soaped unit and dry thoroughly with a hand towel. Never get the end of the power cord wet, it is a real health hazard.

Storage

The Kenmore 10 Speed Hand Mixer needs to be stored in a clean, dry place. Just like any other electric kitchen tool. The manual suggests not wrapping the cord tightly around the unit, because, this could cause the cord to fray or break with age.

Warranty

The Mixer comes with a one year warranty from date of purchase. And Sears will replace the Kenmore 10 Speed Hand Mixer free of charge in the United States only.

Overall

I have really enjoyed my new kitchen tool purchase. The Kenmore 10 Speed Hand Mixer is an economical and reliable product that I honestly recommend to any homemaker, budding chef, or your odd ball kitchen tool collector.
